duke1102 Also, hmm, Laravel... I used Laravel like several years ago in like 2018, think it was Laravel 5 back then. I desperately need to rewrite that web app as it's still running and could use some love, it's so old, back then I still used jQuery (*shudders* I know, right?)... Plus, it's running on PHP 7.4 and I kinda want to not run EOL services, even if the application is very simple and risks are very low.

thijmennl Laravel is very opinionated. Go find a framework in another language that has such great feature set as Laravel. There are slim to none alternatives in other languages

duke1102 I'm currently working with node.js though, a realtime websocket based chat system using fastify, typescript, a bit of rx.js (though I'm not sure if you should do it that way to have reactive variables) and not the best DX honestly, you can tell fastify is written in and focused on vanilla javascript.
